When City keeper Scott Carson was invited to spend time working alongside the CFA groundstaff team, he was more than happy to get his hands dirty and return to his grassroots!

A keen gardener in his spare time away from City, the former England goalkeeper is more than well acquainted with the Club’s superbly maintained pitches in his key role as part of Pep Guardiola‘s squad.

But this time round, for the latest in our work experience features, Scott was tasked with helping to tend and maintain City’s very own green and pleasant land!

First up Scott got down to business helping to mark out lines on the goalkeeping area.

Then he was asked to help repair one of the Academy pitches’ goalmouth areas, getting to grips with some of the high-tech machinery used to tend the playing surface as well as also learning about how the Club recycles grass clippings to ensure nothing goes to waste as part of our sustainability drive.

Finally, Scott digs for victory by assisting in planting a tree in the CFA grounds - and reveals how his passion for gardening has proved invaluable in helping him to relax away from the pressures of elite football and remain an evergreen professional!
