Mary Fowler says she’s delighted to have scored twice in our strong 4-0 Barclays Women’s Super League at Bristol City.

Following a goalless first half, the Australia international sparked the game into life with a stinging drive into the top corner before doubling our advantage soon after when sliding home Lauren Hemp’s pinpoint cross.

An unfortunate Amy Rodgers own goal followed by Alex Greenwood’s first of the season in second-half stoppage time added the gloss to what could be a crucial victory in this term’s fierce title race.

And our forward was pleased to contribute to our record-equalling 14th straight WSL victory as we moved six points clear at the division’s summit.

“It’s a great feeling, I’m always happy to get a goal and the way to do it [makes me] even happier,” she declared.

“Yesterday some of the girls were out with me when we did extras and I had a really shocking shot, it was really funny, so that one should make up for it.

“Really pleased [with the four goals overall]. We always come out and try to focus on getting that win first, but we know in the back of our minds goal difference could be important.

“For us to turn it around in the second half and get a few more goals, we’re really happy with that.”
